Kenneth James, PhD is director of Student Services at the Laboratory School, University of Chicago. His areas of expertise include dream work and psychoanalysis, archetypal dimensions of analytic practice, divination and synchronicity, hypnosis as a therapeutic medium, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Matthew Spitzmueller, PhD, LCSW earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration. At the University of Chicago he also received a master’s degree in social work with a clinical concentration and a master’s degree in the history of religions. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in psychology from Carleton College. His research examines direct service provision to adults with severe and persistent mental illness. He explores the strategies community mental health workers adopt as they negotiate the changing conditions of their work under Medicaid reform.
