In this episode, Patricia Martin interviews Roula-Maria Dib, creative writer and literary scholar, who views Carl Jung as a modernist and has written about the power of the modernist moment in history to give rise to the discipline of psychology. She is the author of <a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/39VvTnL\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/39VvTnL\"><em>Jungian Metaphor in Modernist Literature<\/em><\/a> (Routledge, 2020) and a poetry collection, <em><a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/39WCaQc\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/39WCaQc\" target=\"_blank\">Simply Being<\/a><\/em> (Chiron Press, 2021). She is the founding editor of literary and arts journal <em><a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/indeliblelit.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/indeliblelit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Indelible<\/a><\/em> and creative producer of its literary event series, <em>Indelible Evenings<\/em>. She is a member of the <em><a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/poetrysociety.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/poetrysociety.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Poetry Society<\/a><\/em>, the <em><a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/bams.ac.uk\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/bams.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">British Association for Modernist Studies<\/a><\/em>, the <em><a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/jungstudies.net\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/jungstudies.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">International Association for Jungian Studies<\/a><\/em>, and the <em><a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.jungiansociety.org\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jungiansociety.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jungian Society for Scholarly Studies<\/a><\/em>. She is currently a professor of English at the <a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.aud.edu\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aud.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">American University in Dubai<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roula-Maria Dib is the founder and director of <em>Psychreative<\/em>, a monthly event for creatives with a background in Jungian psychology. As a consultant, Martin has worked on teams at Discovery Communications, Dannon, Microsoft, Ms. Foundation for Women, Oracle, Unisys, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the New York Philharmonic, to name a few. Her work has been featured in the&nbsp;<em>New York Times<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>Harvard Business Review<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>USA Today<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>Advertising Age<\/em>. A blogger since 2002, Martin was a regular contributor to&nbsp;<em>Huffington Post<\/em>&nbsp;during its start-up years. She earned a B.A. in English and sociology from Michigan State University and an M.A. in Irish literature and culture from the University College Dublin. Later, she built a foundation for her cultural analysis by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/jungchicago.org\/store\/index.php?route=information\/information&amp;information_id=29\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/jungchicago.org\/store\/index.php?route=information\/information&amp;information_id=29\">studying Jungian theory and depth psychology at the C. G. Jung Institute of Chicago<\/a>, where she is currently a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/jungchicago.org\/store\/index.php?route=information\/information&amp;information_id=28\" target=\"_blank\">Professional Affiliate<\/a> and member of the program committee. In 2017, she harnessed artificial intelligence to uncover the effects of the internet on our sense of self. A book on her findings entitled&nbsp;<em>Will the Future Like You?<\/em>&nbsp;is due out later in 2021. Martin speaks worldwide about cultural changes that are shaping the future and the impact of the digital culture on the collective.
