The Transpersonal Giants: C.G. Jung and Stanislav Grof – Toward an Integration of Approaches

An Online Course with Boris Matthews, PhD, & Renn Butler, BA

Saturdays, March 9-March 30, 2019; 1:00-3:00 Central Time (11:00-1:00 Pacific Time)

This groundbreaking course will present the seminal work of figures who are, arguably, two of the most important explorers in Western civilization. Jung and Grof independently discovered the healing value of accessing the numinous and transcendent layers of the psyche. Both recognize the liberating effect of focused introspection, and both have an optimistic view of the psyche: acknowledging its capacity to heal itself and move toward wholeness and integration.

Jung is considered the first transpersonal psychologist in the modern era, and Grof is the foremost living theoretician of this important fourth wave in psychology - after psychoanalysis, behaviorism, and humanism.

Learning Objectives

As a result of attending this course, participants will be able to:

1) Describe Jung’s discoveries of the feeling-toned complex, the archetypes of the collective unconscious and the process of individuation, and their significance in the psyche of the individual;
2) Describe Grof’s discoveries of the COEX systems and the Basic Perinatal Matrices;
3) Explain the potential of archetypal astrology to illuminate synchronicities between the psyche and events in the outer world;
4) Explain how non-ordinary states can support the teleological and self-regulating capacities of the psyche to move toward wholeness and integration.

Online: Presenters will email link after registration. Meetings will be held over Zoom. We recommend using a headset for best audio quality.
