Wholeness and the Lost and Recovered Soul
In this workshop, Donald Kalsched will present the core ideas of his celebrated book, The Inner World of Trauma: Archetypal Defenses of the Personal Spirit (Routledge, 1996) with special attention to the application of theoretical ideas to the clinical situation. Among topics covered will be:
- the daimonic and dis-integrating “presences” in the inner object-world of the trauma survivor with dream examples
- the difficulties in working with these inner objects and the refractory resistances they throw up to the integrative process
- the necessity of contacting the “orphaned” part of the self and its “Angel”
- the importance of affect-in-the-body in psychotherapeutic work with trauma survivors and how to work with this relationally
