Return of the Spirit: C.G. Jung’s Psychological Foundation for 12 Step Programs
In this series, Dr. Lavin discusses Jung’s understanding of the many forms of spirit and the ways in which Twelve Step Programs can support the re-discovery of the creative spirit. Dr. Lavin also discusses the shadow of Twelve Step Programs which has the ability to snuff out the spirit which thirsts for wholeness. Other topics discussed include sobriety as a process of remembering one’s Self by loving the body, finding the soul, and accepting the embrace of one’s creative spirit.
Thomas Patrick Lavin, PhD is a Zürich-trained Jungian analyst who holds a PhD in clinical psychology and a PhD in theology. He was formerly chief clinical psychologist for the U.S. Army in Europe and is a founding member of the CG Jung Institute of Chicago. He is in private practice in Wilmette, Illinois, and consults internationally on typology, spirituality and addictions.
