Fontenot, Shirley

Shirley M. Fontenot, DMin, NCPsyA

In her early career, Shirley Fontenot was in elementary education. Part of who she is was formed by teaching six-year-olds for sixteen years. Vatican II gave her hope (temporarily) for the Catholic Church and she moved into the area of religious education. The first six years were learning, growing ones, which led to Shirley’s discovery of Morton Kelsey, John Sanford, and the Jung Center in Houston. In 1977 she left Louisiana and moved to Chicago where she studied psychology and spirituality, took classes at the Jung Center in Evanston, entered analysis, and eventually trained as an analyst. From 1982-86 she worked as a psychotherapist at a wholistic health center; then in private practice until the present time. In 1994 Shirley graduated from the C.G Jung Institute of Chicago, and in 2003 moved to St. Louis where her work continues, both in private practice and teaching for the Jung Society of St. Louis.
