The Art of Dreaming: Living the Creative Life
Life is a work of art, and we are all artists. We fashion our lives according to our life experiences and the way we respond to them. The artist’s task is to see, to be a seer, which means to penetrate the surface of every situation and problem, and to discern: What is the essence and what is appearance? The work is not always pretty, but it tells a true story, and as Keats said, “Beauty is truth, truth beauty.” As the great poets sought help and inspiration from their muses, so can we ordinary people draw forth an infusion of psychic energy from our dreams. Society or “the collective” is always making demands upon us. Often it speaks so loudly that it drowns out the inner voice which tries to remind us of who we really are. Our dreams carry this voice and allow us to marry the inner and outer aspects of our lives, forging a union out of which something new can be birthed. This presentation considers the immeasurable value of the creative element of the dream and how, through heeding it, we can make our lives works of art.
